Flapless aesthetic crown lengthening: A new therapeutic approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
Aesthetic crown lengthening is one important chapter in contemporary periodontology. Traditionally, this procedure is performed using a flap elevation to a full exposure of the underling bone to allow for osteotomy/osteoplasty. However, in well-indicated cases, it is possible to meet that purpose using a flapless approach; i.e. without a flap elevation, in which the osteotomy is performed through the gingival sulcus using proper micro-chisels. To do this, it is important to have an adequate width of keratinized tissue and a bone crest not considered thick (thin and intermediate tissue biotypes). Among the benefits of this breaking-through procedure are low morbidity with no sutures, less bleeding, greater patient acceptance, and immediate outcome. As long as the indications are respected and the learning curve is left behind, predictable outcomes are expected. Flapless aesthetic crown lengthening is one alternative minimally invasive approach which, when indicated, offers realistic clinical benefits to our patients.

Laser-assisted flapless crown lengthening: a case series.
As part of the paradigm shift toward more minimally invasive surgical procedures, increasing numbers of references to laser-mediated flapless crown lengthening are noted in the published literature. The vast majority of these references are noncontrolled case reports or technique-focused articles. Therefore, prospective, randomized controlled studies that objectively examine the safety and effi...

Optimizing the aesthetic outcome for patients requiring periodontal aesthetic restorative treatment has become a primary objective in contemporary dentistry. Techniques that simplify and enhance quality of treatment provide substantial benefits to patients and clinicians. متن کاملA new flapless technique for crown lengthening after orthodontic extrusion.
Orthodontic extrusion (OE), which is performed in many different clinical situations to move a tooth or its periodontal tissues coronally, is often associated with supracrestal fiberotomy and root planing (OEFRP) or followed by surgical crown lengthening. The OEFRP procedure must be carried out every 2 weeks during the entire extrusive orthodontic phase, and precise control of the technique its...
متن کاملAesthetic crown lengthening: classification, biologic rationale, and treatment planning considerations.
UNLABELLED The rationale for crown lengthening procedures has progressively become more aesthetic-driven due to the increasing popularity of smile enhancement therapy. Although the biologic requirements are similar to the functionally oriented exposure of sound tooth structure, aesthetic expectations require an increased emphasis on the appropriate diagnosis of the hard and soft tissue relation...
متن کاملA biometric approach to aesthetic crown lengthening: part I--midfacial considerations.
Although human dental anatomy is taught in university curricula, clinicians often witness restorations that are not proportional to one another. Dental restorations should also be proportional to periodontal supporting tissues as an essential aspect of dental anatomy. Measurements can be performed directly on a patient's teeth with aesthetic gauges used to confirm the correct position of the su...
